About the Coalition
The Garden State Birth Coalition is a rapidly emerging collective of individuals, midwifery associations, birth and reproductive justice organizations, and grass roots organizers who are coming together to advocate for The Midwifery Licensing Act, a critical piece of New Jersey Midwifery legislation.
Passage of New Jersey A5527/S4487 is time-sensitive, and crucial to the well-being of the New Jersey midwifery workforce and consumer access to midwives.
Because we are working in community, the foundational structure of that community must include shared values.
Here are some of the values that early coalition members have created for this group!
NJ Midwifery Collaboration
This work is happening in the spirit of, and a deep vision for, New Jersey collaborative unity.
The New Jersey Certified Professional Midwives Association (NJCPM) and the New Jersey Affiliate of the American College of Nurse Midwives (NJACNM) have come together as the organizations representing all licensed midwives in our state to advocate for and pass The Midwifery Licensing Act.
The collaboration of these two New Jersey midwifery organizations is an example for US midwives to be united as changemakers for the profession of midwifery.
NJCPM and NJACNM are committed to working together to assure that all New Jersey midwives are respected and equally represented.
